Find your way through New York
mapsmaze is a free map puzzle game on the real streets of New York. Study the map for a few seconds, then find your way to the address from memory, junction by junction, like a maze made of a real city.

Where you play
Letters in New York start in Midtown Manhattan, around Bryant Park and Times Square, on the city's real street map from OpenStreetMap.
New York's streets
Midtown is the easy-looking one: numbered streets run east–west, avenues north–south, and the blocks are long one way and short the other. That's the trap. A block along an avenue is quick, a block across town is not, and Broadway cuts through the grid at an angle, so the straight line on the map is rarely the fastest route through it.
How a round goes
- Study the map. You see the streets of New York, where you start and where the letter goes, for a few seconds.
- Walk it from memory. The map goes away and you're in the street, at street level. Choose a street at each junction and run to the next one.
- Deliver the letter. Points for a direct route and a quick one; every peek back at the map costs 50.

New players pick 3 cities to start with, so you can choose New York straight away. Delivering letters earns stamps, which open more cities. The daily letter, the same for everyone, is set in one of the game's cities, and it could be this one.
